The Fourteenth Annual "Doodle for Hunger" Celebrity Art Auction
was held on Thursday, November 7, 2013
at Pier Sixty/Chelsea Piers. The lively charity event was presented once again by Margo and John Catsimatidis, and hosted by Fox 5 News Anchor, Ernie Anastos. For the first time in Doodle For Hunger history the program featured musical performances, much to the delight of our attendees. Guests of Honor Gloria Gaynor, Grammy Award winner and Constantine Maroulis, Tony Award nominee both serenaded guests with musical selections that truly set the tone for evening. Gaynor and Maroulis each received the Francis Award for their commitment to helping the needy. Colorful and original signed works of art, or "Doodles", created by celebrities such as Donatella Versace, Donald Trump, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Peter Max, LeRoy Neiman, Mariano Rivera, Jon Cryer, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Betty White and many more, were auctioned off during the event. Celebrity Auctioneer, actor Tony Lo Bianco was joined by Auctioneer CK Swett of Heritage Auctions. Over 700 guests enjoyed a cocktail party, Doodle preview, silent auction and live auctions. It was a wonderful evening that raised over $600,000 in support of St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, which serves over 10,000 poor families in the New York area each week.
