St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters held their Eleventh Annual "Thanksgiving in February" feast on Saturday February 23, 2013. Con Edison and John Catsimatidis were Event Sponsor, and Macy's was the Food Sponsor. A complete Thanksgiving meal - with all the fixings - was served in the Church Hall at The Church of St. Paul the Apostle to over 500 of our food pantry clients. Actor and author Tony Danza was joined by Talk Show Host Wendy Williams of The Wendy Williams Show as our special celebrity volunteers. Wendy also had members of her staff serve as volunteers. They, along with over 80 other cheerful volunteers from Con Edison and Macy's helped during the day to serve the meal and greet guests. Some volunteers also provided face painting and balloon sculpting for the children. Magic Dave and a special appearance by "Spiderman" entertained everyone during the meal. Corporate Volunteer leaders included:
  • John Catsimatidis, President & CEO, Red Apple Group
  • Mitch Leventhal, Executive Vice President of Financial Planning for Macy's
  • Frances Resheske, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs for Con Edison.
With the passing of the end-of-year holidays many New Yorkers refocus their energy to their personal lives and forget about the needs of the less fortunate. St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters holds "Thanksgiving in February" to reignite the holiday spirit in our Corporate Sponsors and volunteers as they serve their neighbors in need. The event was another huge success which brought joy to the lives of some of New York's less fortunate families.

Over 500 Food Pantry clients attended "Thanksgiving in February". Francis Resheske, Senior VP, Public Affairs of Con Edison and John Catsimatidis, President/CEO of Red Apple Group.

Tony Danza was among our volunteers and helped serve the meal. Wendy Williams is always happy to help St. Francis Food Pantries with this event.

Cheerful volunteers from Con Edison and Macy's made sure the meal was served in style. "This is a great party, and the food is delicious!"

The meal was served "waiter style" to make it a special luncheon. Face painting and balloon sculpting was provided by some of the volunteers.
