St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters held the first Annual "A Taste of Greece" Luncheon in the Ballroom of the Affinia Manhattan Hotel. Over 500 clients from our Midtown Food Pantry were invited for this special party. Con Edison was the Food Sponsor, and Ernie Anastos, Fox 5 News Anchor and his wife Kelly were our Celebrity Guest Hosts. Kelly was very instrumental in helping us create the traditional Greek menu for this theme luncheon which was prepared by Chef Chris Scarpaci of Niles Restaurant. Volunteers from Con Edison, "The Network," led by Rasheedah Brown, and members of the Caring Hearts Ministry from the Church of the Revelation, organized by Olga Torres were delighted to help with this event. These volunteers decorated the tables, served the meal, greeted guests, made balloon animals and showed off their face painting skills for the children. Ernie Anastos brought a film crew with him to cover the party and interviewed volunteers and guests. The footage was used in a feature story about St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters on Ernie's new Fox show "Positively Ernie." Magic Dave performed tricks to delight the guests, and lively Greek music filled the ballroom. Each guest received a special treat at the end of the party - and everyone who attended had a wonderful time experiencing "A Taste of Greece."
