A "St. Patrick's Day Luncheon" for over 400 senior clients of ENCORE Community Services in Midtown Manhattan was held by St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters. In addition to the meals served in ENCORE's Community Hall, over 800 additional meals were delivered by volunteers to their homebound clients. The event was presented by Macy's as part of their 2013 "Bag Hunger" Campaign and John Catsimatidis, President & CEO of Red Apple Group sponsored the meal. Rosanna Scotto, Co-Host of FOX 5's "Good Day New York" stopped by to speak to the guests, and mentioned the event the following morning on her show. Chef Juan Cruz and his staff prepared complete traditional Irish meal of corned beef and Cabbage, boiled potatoes and carrots, Irish Soda Bread and salad. The meal was served by volunteers from Macy's Partners in Time organization, coordinated by Agnes Zakrezewska. Guests sat at tables which were decorated beautifully in green, and Irish music filled the air. Our very special lucky Leprechaun presented each guest with a "gold" bag of chocolate coins. This special luncheon was another successful Community Program for those served by St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters.

Macy's volunteers coordinated by Agnes Zakresewska, and our Leprechaun were ready for the party. Over 400 seniors enjoyed the sit down luncheon.

Nieves Tavares and Sr. Elizabeth Hasselt, ENCORE Executive Director greeted the guests. Plates of food were dished up by the Macy's volunteers.

Each senior received a complete St. Patrick's Day meal, including dessert. The Leprechaun visited with the guests and distributed gold covered chocolate coins as gifts.

"I am thankful to St. Francis Food Pantries for this delightful party!" Rosanna Scotto with the Macy's volunteers.
