St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters held a "St. Patrick's Day Luncheon" for over 500 clients on Saturday March 17, 2012. The event was sponsored by Macy's as part of their 2012 "Bag Hunger" Campaign and held in the Ballroom at the Affinia Manhattan Hotel in Midtown. A complete traditional Irish meal of corned beef and Cabbage, boiled potatoes and carrots, Irish Soda Bread and salad was served by over 50 cheerful volunteers from Macy's Partners in Time organization. Margaret Grioli - Vice President of Corporate Communications and Employee Giving, and Agnes Zakrezewska - Director of Employee Volunteerism and Giving coordinated the volunteers who served the meal, greeted the guests, made balloon sculptures and painted faces for the delighted children. Irish music filled the Ballroom and lifted the spirits everyone there. Magic Dave entertained the families, and our very special lucky Leprechaun presented each guest with a "gold" bag of chocolate coins. This special luncheon was another successful Community Program for those served by St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters.
