Many of our corporate sponsors kicked the "spirit of giving" into high gear during the month of November by participating in a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Making Day. St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters had four separate company-sponsored PB&J days with employees from Polo Ralph Lauren, J.P. Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch and MetLife.

Working as a team, dozens of volunteers donated their time to make as many sandwiches as possible within the allotted timeframe. It is always amusing to watch the groups innocently compete to outdo one another for a great a cause! In the end laughs were shared, strategies were tried and sandwiches were made. A LOT of them!

20,000 sandwiches were prepared and distributed as part of our "Brown Bag" lunch program to be sent to our network of pantries and shelters.

It looks like "peanut butter and jelly time" to us! What do you think? This is the "calm" before the tasty sandwich-making- storm!

"Knowing that our work today will provide meals is very rewarding." Our volunteers always have a lot of fun during our PB&J days.

We're sensing "sandwich-strategy" being formed! Sometimes standing up gives you better PB&J leverage.

The team pauses for a quick picture, but we can tell they are ready to get to work! No portion of the peanut butter jar was left unscooped!

Merrill Lynch, a longtime supporter of our efforts, sponsored a PB&J day this November.
Thank you to our Merrill Lynch volunteers for another successful PB&J day.
It's hard not to smile when you are making PB&J's for a great cause!
"Watch, I can make a lot more sandwiches this way!"
Our network of pantries and shelters will be so happy to receive all of these sandwiches.
