Grandparents Advocacy Project (GAP) is a Bronx, NY-based group that consists of grandparents who have custody of their grandchildren for one reason or another. Throughout the year, we work closely with this organization and its founder Dr. Kathy Gibson on several events/projects. This past July 15th, GAP belatedly celebrated Mothers' Day by attending a play at the Dempsey Community Center Theatre in Harlem, on West 127 St. "Behind Closed Doors" is a Gospel musical – which was written by a grandmother, coincidentally – that offers inspiration and encouragement when it come to facing some of life's difficulties.

Prior to the play, a group of GAPsters had lunch at the Olive Garden on West 125th St. We all had a wonderful time being together, thanks in part to St. Francis Pantries and Shelters, the play was a hit, and we can’t wait for our next event!
