With the "Back to School" season comes the promise of a new academic year of learning, new friendships and new experiences. While this time can be a very exciting one for kids and parents, alike, it can also be an expensive one.

Household budgets that have been stretched over the Summer are now responsible for purchasing new clothing, backpacks and school supplies. For many of the clients who depend on us for help, year by year, this reality presents a great challenge.

For this reason we launched a "Back to School Drive" to raise funds that would provide new backpacks filled with school supplies - free of charge. With your help, we were able to distribute school bags filled with: pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, scissors, sharpeners, rulers, spiral and composition notebooks and folders.

We'd also like to send a special thanks to our friends at Con Edison for donating thousands of items including backpacks and school supplies to help aid our cause. In addition, our Macy's friends spent an early morning before work helping us to pack up the bags for distribution!

In our opinion, the only thing that children should have to worry about in the new school year is making good grades! Thank you to everyone who donated and helped to get the word out and make our B2S Drive 2014 a success!

These lovely Macy's volunteers are focused while packing school bags! Murray van der Heyden and his friend also donated their time for this special project.

Giving back always puts a smile on the faces of our volunteers! Assembly line-style assures that no item is left behind!

All packed up and ready to go! The staff at a location that we support was very grateful for this delivery!

Nothing can stop them this year! They told us that now they are excited to return to school!

Thank you to Christine Grasser (2nd from right) and her fabulous team from Macy's who helped to pack school bags!
With the help of our Supporters we were able to provide backpacks with different prints and patterns.
Composition and spiral notebooks - plus pencils - were a few of the essentials inside.
Scissors and calculators were also included as well.
Glue sticks, erasers, crayons and protractors - anyone else feeling a sense of nostalgia?
